Birth Place of Shri Guru Ravidass Ji Maharaj
Shri Guru Ravidass Ji Maharaj was born in Seer Goverdhanpur, Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh, India). This sacred site holds deep spiritual importance and is regarded as one of the most significant places for followers.
Spiritual Significance
The birthplace has become a major pilgrimage site for the Ravidassia community. Devotees from around the world visit this location to pay respect and connect with the teachings of Shri Guru Ravidass Ji Maharaj.
Development of Janam Asthan Mandir
A major contribution to this site was made by Dera Sachkhand Ballan, which led the development of the Shri Guru Ravidass Janam Asthan Mandir.
The foundation stone of the Mandir was laid on 14 June 1965 (Ashad Sankranti) by Sant Hari Dass Ji, under the guidance of Sant Sarwan Dass Ji.
The construction was carried out with great effort by sewadars (volunteers), even under difficult conditions.
Growth and Expansion
Over the years, the Mandir has developed into a large and important religious center:
- Installation of statues (Moorti) of Shri Guru Ravidass Ji Maharaj and Sant Sarwan Dass Ji in 1974
- Expansion into a multi-storey structure
- Addition of domes (Gumbad) and a gold Kalash
- Continuous improvements supported by devotees and charitable trusts
A gate in honor of Shri Guru Ravidass Ji was also constructed in Varanasi and inaugurated by President K. R. Narayanan in 1998.
Annual Celebrations
Every year, millions of devotees gather at this site to celebrate Guru Ravidass Jayanti (Parkash Parv).
Special arrangements, including transportation such as the "Begumpura Express", have been organized over the years to support pilgrims traveling from different regions.
Global Importance
Today, Shri Guru Ravidass Janam Asthan Mandir is recognized as a central place of pilgrimage for the global Ravidassia community.
The site also played a historic role in 2010, when the Ravidassia religion was formally declared and Amritbani was introduced as the holy scripture.
